Thierry Picq (France)
Thierry Picq holds a doctorate in management sciences and has seven years experience as an Organization consultant with Bossard/Gemini Consulting in Paris and with Geneva-based CSI, specialized in international corporate training. His thesis work focused on how intellectual services companies accumulate and transmit knowledge.
In these capacities, Thierry Picq has worked for numerous international companies. He has also been a special advisor on international expertise-transfer projects for the International Labor Organization in the area of training.
In 1995, he joined E.M. Lyon, one of the top 10 European business schools, where he is involved in teaching, research, and people and organizational management consulting. He notably conducted training programs within corporate universities for international High Potential Executives. He also lectures at many other French and European business schools and belongs to a network of independent consultants.
During a year-long sabbatical in 1998, he was a Visiting Professor at San Francisco State University and conducted a study on the human resource management practices of major Silicon Valley high tech companies.
He has written "Manager une équipe projet" (Les Editions d'Organisation,1999) as well as several scholarly and professional articles on human resource management in Silicon Valley high tech companies, including "Des hommes et des puces: Chroniques d'un autre monde," which appeared in the September 2000 issue of the Ecole des Mines review Gérer et comprendre.
His consulting work and research both focus on:
- Organizational development and change management,
- Project management and facilitating cross-functional teams,
- New organizational forms and their impact on people management,
- Human resource management in high-tech companies,
- Impact of new technologies on management and human resources (including e-learning),
- Learning organizations, Knowledge Management and communities of practices in organizations.
What's more he co-runs the editorial board of Management et Conjoncture Sociale (a French magazine for managers and HR executives) with Hubert Landier.
