André Chieng (Chine)
André CHIENG, born in Marseilles, France, in 1953 in a Chinese family, has been educated the Chinese way in his family and the French way at school. Initially interested by the classics, he ends up studying mathematics and sciences, and enters Ecole Polytechnique of Paris. Once graduated, he is attracted by economy which he studies in Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Economique and Institut d'Etudes Politiques of Paris.
In 1978, he decides to stay two years in China where he teaches economy at university. He comes back to France in 1980 and joins the Louis Dreyfus Group which sends him as general manager of Brambilla company, one of the oldest French trading firms specialised with commercial exchanges with China. He becomes chairman of this company, turned into A.E.C. in 1988, with an activity including consulting. A.E.C. have today 40 employees located in 4 sites in China.
Since 2001, he has moved to Beijing. Also vice-president of the France China Committee, André Chieng is advisor of the Hebei province and member of honour of the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade. In 1987, he has co-authored Les Nouvelles Routes de la Soie, published by Economica. In 2006, he publishes La pratique de la Chine, en compagnie de François Jullien with Grasset editions.
